INTRODUCTION TO NATURE JOURNALING (For Ages 10 and up)
Connecting to Nature through drawing, observation and outdoor exploration. We’ll look at different types of journals, learn what to include in your entries, how to observe and draw what you see. Then we’ll head into the field for our first journal entries.

GARDEN FOR WILDLIFE
Want to attract more wildlife to your yard? Learn how to improve habitat by providing food, water and shelter. (We will learn which native plants provide nectar, seeds and fruits for birds, butterflies and honey bees.) We will plant native plants for food, built a brush pile and create a "toad abode" for safe cover for small animals, and build a simple bird bath or bird feeder.

MAKE YOUR OWN PAPER
Don’t throw away that old newspaper and wrapping paper. Turn it into a piece of art! Using a blender and some screens, we’ll create beautiful new paper. We’ll add some leaves and dried flowers to give our creation some extra flair.

WILDFLOWER IDENTIFICATION AND FUN
Walk through our meadow and learn to identify the wildflowers. Create a small journal with them and a pretty craft to take home.

CREATE A TERRARIUM
Collect all the materials needed to make your own terrarium then design it and take it home.

There is nothing like the magic of the twinkling of fireflies on a warm summer’s evening. Find out how and why these little beetles blink in the night. We will try to catch some, make our own lightning bug to take home,listen to a firefly story and have fun by the fire roasting some marshmallows. Let your children spend an evening on the farm, while you enjoy a dinner out. We will explore the magic of lightning bugs and try to catch some. Children will make a twinkling firefly to take home, listen to a story and roast marshmallows in the fire.

TREES ARE AMAZING
Come to the farm and discover all the different varieties of trees in our region. You will learn identification techniques, sample some of the products trees give us, and learn how to choose a location to plant a tree. We will plant several trees, and you will take one home in a pot!
